On the outskirts of Kaede's Village was a well, the Bone Eater's well to be exact. It was known to allow certain people to travel through times. Only few people knew this, while others thought it was just old and dried up. Yumi just happened to be one of those people. She walked between a few tree's, stumbling over a few bushes until she came upon an odd clearing. Looking around, Yumi approached the well.
She put her hands on the wood and peered over the edge. It was empty, something she didn't expect. "Isn't a well supposed to have water in it?" she mumbled to herself. Yumi sighed closing her eyes and sliding her back down the side of the well. She was rather thirsty today and on top of that she had just finished battling a large demon. Things had been tough lately and now this. Yumi reclined on the soft green grass, exhausted and dehydrated. Her eyes got heavy and she fell asleep, not aware of her anything or anyone.
(OOC: What's another word I could've used instead of layed?) Edit-Problem Resolved.

((Eh, I'm going to go ahead and reply to this; I've got too much muse not to xD)) ¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
What’s this? What’s this? There’s color everywhere.
And that color is red.
That is, indeed, the color he would prefer to all this ridiculously useless green. Red was the color of sweet, sweet blood, the color of death and of danger, of destructive fire, of Hades, of Oblivion, of murder and disease and all those things which could bring him joy. Yes, red, his favorite color, the best of them all, the only color that could possibly suit him.
And yet, here there was only green; an unbroken mess of disgusting green: the color of life, of growth. Sure, green could be the color of envy, but what good was envy? Pathetic, worthless, useless. And here this forest was nothing but green; green leaves, green ivy, green moss, green grass, green everything. It was infuriating.
His sapphire gaze narrowed; how he did wish for some red. Some blood or fire; anything to break this unending abyss of green. Anything would be preferable to such a worthless place as a forest. And yet, here he was, wandering here within this abysmal green forest, surrounded by the scents of life, of growth, of green. Forked tongue of darkened hues of yellow flicked from his human mouth in a desperate attempt to taste something other than life and plants and green.
Ah, but what was this? His eyes were no longer narrowed by the time his tongue had returned to that of a human’s, hidden again within the confines of his mouth, a mouth which was twisted in a slight smirk; not quite enough to touch the tattoo upon his handsome face, but a smirk nonetheless. Another taste of life, perhaps, but it was not the green, infuriatingly worthless life of a plant; no, this was the sweet taste of red life: a person, with blood running through their veins, and meat on their bones.
He paused in his step, a formerly disturbed branch swinging into place behind him, narrowly missing the scarf that hung down his back. Now, if only he could figure out in what direction that scent had come from; any other place and he would be their already—the scent was close—but here, here the scents of green overrode everything else, confusing his senses for lack of being used to them, for lack of ability to place them on the back burner and concentrate on something else.
His lips parted, the lizard tongue flicking from his mouth once again, hovering in the air for less than a handful of seconds before again returning into his mouth as the tastes of the wind registered. His mouth twisted itself again into a smirk; ah, yes, there she was: a human girl, young, innocent, and completely weak. His now human tongue ran along his sharp teeth, savoring the sweet taste of the girl’s scent; humans may have been pathetically weak prey, but they certainly tasted far better than any demon. It was a true shame that he was not hungry at the moment, but that did not mean he could not have himself some fun.
He turned, his sapphire gaze searching the abyss of green for the most suitable pathway towards the girl’s scent. He sighed; of course, it would be the one direction that didn’t have the slightest hint of a path. Rolling his eyes, he stepped forward, a red haze surrounding him as he did so. By the time his foot hit ground, it was not a foot at all, but a heavily clawed, scaled komodo foot.
The smirk on his face became distorted beneath the haze as his mouth elongated, his nose melting into this scaly hide, his eyes becoming larger as their shape shifted into that of a lizard’s eyes. His hair merged into the back of his head, the skin changing into the dark red scales of his komodo form. He took another step forward, and by the time it was completed, the transformation was complete, ending with the solid ton of Komodo Dragon that was his six-limbed secondary form. He shook slightly, clearing the haze from about his form, before he continued onward, the weight and claws of this form crushing the undergrowth, the branches and trailing vegetation merely glancing off his scaly hide as he made his own path through the underbrush.
His tongue flicked regularly from his reptilian mouth, his parted lips twisted into a ghastly smirk, his darkened, stained fangs showing in the agape mouth. His tail swung heavily back and forth with the motion of his body, his muscles working under his thick hide to carry the heavy load of this form. But this was far easy than battling the rest of the day to get through the grasping vegetation of this green abyss in his human form.
And the scents! His smirk widened; in this form, his senses were no longer dimmed by that worthless human form; he could taste every scent coming from that human girl, and he was quite enjoying her sweet taste at it came to him on the wind. And it was closer now, much closer. He lifted a heavily clawed hand to brush aside a trailing vine and stepped forward right into the clearing.
His smirk widened as he caught sight of her: there, lazing about in the grass near that well, sound asleep. He chuckled, a deep, rough sound, akin to the grating sound of rock on rock; so unsafe, sleeping in the middle of the wilds, out in the open like that. He shook his head slightly, taking another step forward as the red haze again surrounded him.
His form shrunk in on itself, the scales softening and lightening, the entire of his komodo body shrinking into just his human legs, so that when his foot hit the ground at the end of his step, it was the booted foot of a human. He lifted a gloved hand to brush the reddish brown mess of hair from his eyes. He smirked, pausing briefly as he considered how to go about waking the little girl. His head tilted thoughtfully to the side, smirking; ah, yes, that would be quite effective, indeed.
He strode forward, his steps long and purposeful as he approached the well, moving quietly so he did not wake her just yet. He seated himself on the wooden rim of the well on the opposite side from the girl, pulling the Dokuja—sheath and all—from his belt as he did so. He paused a moment, considering the worn sheath of the sword, before he lifted it and slammed it rather hard upon the wood of the well; the resulting crack would likely be enough to wake anyone.
“A curious thing, is it not, that someone may choose such a dangerously open place to go to sleep, where anyone may happen upon them,” he paused, clicking his tongue, “Very unsafe, my dear, people who do that tend to get hurt, and that would be just terrible,” he finished, leaning back slightly and turning to look over his shoulder towards the girl, a wide smirk on his face. He did wonder what this girl would do, faced with a strange holding a sword; sure, it was sheathed and at rest upon the wooden rim of the well, but that did not change the fact that he still displayed it quite proudly; surely she would see him as a threat. But the question was, what would she do?

The sun was still shining bright through the thicket of trees surrounding them making random spots in the grass appear lighter. It was rather calm and serene to Yumi that was why she was still sound asleep in the grass. Her mouth was slightly open allowing drool to flow out. She moved her hand to scratch her face seeing as it was beginning to itch because of the grass, but she quickly put it back down and slept without movement.
A voice was heard not even ten feet from where she was. Her eyes twitched and she moved slightly before slowly arising up from her peaceful nap. She looked from side to side to see if anyone was was there, but she saw no one. Had she just been hearing things in her sleep. That would be preposterous. Yumi turned around seeing a man sitting there.
She stared at him for several minutes in awe. He was flawless, drop dead gorgeous to be exact. No human could've looked like this so he must be a demon or an illusion her mind was playing on her since she was still exhausted and dehydrated. "Pardon me, I didn't catch what you said," Yumi spoke calmly to him. She propped her self upon the well so she could still slightly rest.
(OOC: I really liked your post! I don't know how you can write so much. It inspires me to do better!)

((Thanks; I’m trying to practice up because I’m going to be challenging for a land on another site, and unless I can consistently post 2000 good words, I’m going to get owned xDD)) ¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
An invitation to the state of rigor mort.
Indeed, falling asleep in the wild like this was quite the invitation to death, though he quite doubted it would be the invitation to rigor mort; after all, if one was to die out here, they would likely be eaten before rigor mort set in. Still, it was the principal of the matter; this girl was simply asking for death. Heck, if he had been hungry, she would already be on a stick above a flame by now. Very fortunate for her he was simply looking for a bit of enjoyment and not a meal, wouldn’t you agree?
And my, what a sleeper she was! She had hardly been fazed by the crack of sheath on wood, and had only woken slowly after that, aided by the sound of his voice; if he had not spoken, he rather thought she’d have gone back to sleep. His smirk widened slightly; so much for the sudden jolting awake that he had been going for. But this simply proved his point; she’d never have woken in time to save herself if he had come here with the intention of eating her. And such a shame that would have been, well, at least for her; for him, he’d be enjoying the full potential of her taste, not merely being teased by tendrils of scent on the air.
He chuckled quietly at her words, no longer a grating sound now for his human vocal cords, though it was still tinged with the deep grate of his true form; never could he cover that up, but then, he didn’t exactly care to, either. So she was still half asleep, was she? Well, now, that just simply wouldn’t do; he was a patient fellow, but he still did not enjoy repeating himself. Well, he smirked, she would be awake soon enough. ‘ “Oh, my dear, I was simply saying that it was a curious thing that you chose here to sleep, after all, it was quite a foolish choice, that is, unless you have a death wish,” he paused, turning back around to face away from the girl, sliding the Dokuja partially out of it’s sheath as though inspecting the blade, or considering whether or not to use it; perhaps the sight of a blade would help the girl wake up, “If that was your intention, then by all means, do let me know; I must admit, I’m not all that hungry at the moment, but I’ve never been one to pass up an easy meal.”
He chuckled quietly as he dropped the blade back into the sheath with a quiet click, letting the sheathed katana rest on the ground, though he kept his left hand on the hilt; it simple wouldn’t do for him to drop his weapon, now would it? The youkai reclined against his right hand, leaning back and placing his right leg on the rim of the well as he turned he glanced at the girl where she now set on the other side of the well; if he was going to pay any attention to the little human at all, he may as well be comfortable while he did.
“So, my dear, should I be preparing a fire, or was it simply a mistake, you falling asleep like that?” he asked, smirking so that his sharp teeth showed slightly, the gaping mouth of the lizard tattoo twisting into a grin as well. He looked at her for a few seconds like that before turning his gaze back to his sword, twirling it slightly in the loose grip of his left hand, as if he found the blade far more important than her. But even though his face was downcast and turned away, it would not be a difficult task to see that he was still smirking, a smirk which only widened at the thought of how infuriated plenty of people would be at being dismissed so. He wondered if this little girl would be the same, but perhaps she would not; after all, how many people made a habit of sleeping in the middle of no where?

Yumi watched as he pulled the sword out of it's sheath. The craftsmanship was astonishing. She'd never seen anything like it before. Yumi thought for several seconds. Was this stranger trying to daunt her with his sword and words? Yumi didn't move one inch nor did the her facial expression change. "Show off," She mumbled lowly before he put it back into its sheath.
If this demon wasn't hungry at all why would he want to eat her? That made completely no sense to Yumi. "I wasn't meaning to fall asleep, it was sort of an accident." She manage to stutter out. Pretending to be scared is was what she doing. He wanted to see fear in her face didn't he? Yumi would go along with this and when he did finally decide to attack her, he would be surprised that she wasn't an easy meal.
"I don't think you'd want to eat me anyways," Yumi said acting as if she was a pathetic human. She didn't have anything against them, it just showed a sign of weakness. Her eyes grew wide and her bottom lip pouted out a bit, but somehow she knew that he wasn't going to fall for her little ploy. Yumi would have to figure out something that would make him change his mind, something that'd make him let down his defense though she suspected they weren't very high in the first place.

((Couple of references in this, see if you can catch them xD)) ¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
If you want to play it like a game,
Ah, a playful little one, was she? Look at her, that little act, the stuttering, the widened eyes; he chuckled quietly, watching her from the corner of his eyes as he continued to twirl his sword. He must admit, she was quite the little actress; that act would have surely fooled any human, but no one can make their scent join their act, and she didn’t have the slightest fear scent. A shame, it would have made her scent, her taste that much more enticing.
His smirk widened as she continued her act; was she so down on her own kind? She acted as every other pathetic little mortal had acted once he began to toy with them, only they had not been acting. She must think herself mighty tough, to put herself above the humans like that. Well, he’d just have to see about that, now wouldn’t he? But not yet, not yet; now he was enjoying their little talk Let him instill some real fear in the girl, then he’d see how tough she really was.
“Oh, but my dear, how very wrong you are,” he said, letting out a short, contemptuous laugh, “I would very much like to feast on your flesh—your very scent is so very enticing—but you don’t need me to tell you that, now do you? I’m sure you already know that there would be no other reason for a demon to seek out a human, don’t you?” He chuckled at the stereotype; how true it was so many times, but any stereotype can be false, if only once a blue moon. He twirled his sword again before turning his gaze back on the girl, tilting his head slightly, thoughtfully.
“But, as I said, I’m not all that hungry at the moment; much better to wait until I could fully enjoy you, don’t you agree? It would be such a waste, otherwise,” he said, then paused, as though something had just occurred to him; a slow smirk spread across his face, “So then, I’m sure you’re just dying to know, why did I come, if not to get myself a meal?” Again he paused, chuckling quietly as he returned to twirling the Dokuja
“I must admit, you humans are quite amusing in your antics, but you seem to have forgotten one thing, my dear,” he paused, smirking as his demonic energies flared briefly, his tongue changing as it flicked out of his mouth so that it was the forked tongue of a lizard that the human would see; it was a brief show, and over in only seconds, but it would be enough, he was sure, to make his point, “I can taste your fear, my dear, and you don’t have a speck of it around you; so then, you are either very brave, or very, very stupid, to have no fear of me,” he paused thoughtfully, smirking.
“It is quite remarkable, isn’t it, how often those two traits become confused; I wonder at why that is. Could it be that they are one in the same?” he paused, as though considering if that were the case, though he already knew quite well, “Yes, that must be it; after all, what is courage, but an invitation to death, the state of rigor mort?” he asked, chuckling quietly, “So then, my dear, if this is the case, why bother to be brave?”
Come on, come on let’s play.

Her face soon turned in abhor. Just thinking about him biting into her flesh made her sick to her stomach. "No of course not. I've learned that not every demon is bad. Some are just as innocent as humans," The words flowed smoothly out of her mouth. She had learned that not to long ago. If she would've murdered that demon she would have been just as bad as the demons who murder recklessly and mercilessly.
Yumi sat up straight moving her hair dark, silky hair out of her face. "That would be a waste of my perfectly good human flesh." She joked . She had no reason not to joke around, it's not like he would do anything now. If he did she'd just fight him or escape from his grasp. Yumi had been in these situations before, so she wouldn't be afraid. She then nodded her he curiously to his next question.
"Why would I be afraid of you. I've encountered many demons in my life all of them wanting to eat me, but I've easily slain them all." Yumi said revealing that she was a demon slayer. She wondered what he would say to that. Would he stay expressionless or would he want to fight her? "I'm am not a weak like other humans." She added on though it was almost a quite whisper. The wind began to blow, which made Yumi's hair blow and glisten in the sunlight that surrounded them.
(Ooc: I would've made this post better, but I've been extremely busy. I've also would've made it longer. I also didn't catch any references, but that's because I'm dumb)

((It’s a fine post; mine’s not going to be much better, anyways; after a 2100-sometime word post and an 1800-something word post for that challenge, I think I killed my muse xD. By the way, the references were the “it’s remarkable how often those two traits coincide” comment by Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, and then the line from the Seven Deadly Virtues from Camelot: “Take courage, now there’s a sport, an invitation to the state of rigor mort.” I love that song xDD)) ¡˅¡Nagurikorosu¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Have you heard the news¡˅¡ ¡˅¡That you’re dead?¡˅¡ ¡˅¡I think they never¡˅¡ ¡˅¡Liked you anyway¡˅¡
((Whooo, post coming soon! I started to try and post and found my muse is completely dead xDD. It’ll probably be back working once that challenge gets judged on the other site, though, since I think it’s just my nerves that are killing it xDD. So, yeah, hope they judge that soon. And, if not, I’ll scrape something up, lol))
